Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ride side saddle? Conjuring up images of elegant women in flowing skirts straight from a scene of Downton Abbey or Bridgerton, this traditional discipline has a rich an interesting history.
But is it easy to balance, and how comfortable is it compared to riding astride? Well, now you can find out!
And of course, the beautiful dresses & riding habits are all part of the appeal with this historic discipline, and it just wouldn’t be the same without the flowing skirts!
The Knights of Middle England offer a unique opportunity for you to experience this.
With a range of outfits from traditional habits to historic costumes during this experience you will be able to look the part with an outfit of your choice from our small collection or you are welcome to bring your own outfit.
Once dressed it’s time to mount your horse and head down to the arena for your side saddle lesson where you will learn the technique of how to ride aside safely on one of our schoolmasters with tuition from our qualified and expert instructor.
To complete this unique side saddle experience, ride around our extensive, private grounds which include woodland, open fields, and tree lined tracks as it’s time for your own mini photoshoot in your beautiful costume with a professional photographer.
Run on select dates throughout the year - usually once per month between April and September.

Voucher Terms & Conditions
Lessons and Experiences are available on selected weekdays and weekends depending on diary availability. Experience Day dates are released annually and lesson dates quarterly via our newsletter and then made available on the system. If you are not signed up to the newsletter, you will not receive dates when they are released. You can book dates for the current quarter via our online booking system.
Voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase - if your voucher passes its validity date without being redeemed on our booking system, the Experience is no longer redeemable unless an additional extension fee of 20% of the lesson/experience cost has been paid to extend for a six month period (from expiry date). Credit from redeemed vouchers is valid for 12 months from date of redemption.
All vouchers are non-refundable. Once booked onto a selected date - our cancellation policy is 3 days (72hrs) before the booked date. If more than 72 hours notice is given, then participants can book onto a different date within the voucher validity. If less than 72 hours notice is given the voucher is no longer redeemable.
Each discipline and lesson type has specific requirements to book (min age, max weight, min riding ability). If you are not within these requirements, you will not be able to book. Please get in touch for more information.
